In this issue: Need help from Down Under Re: Eating and shooting Re: Eating and shooting Proton-X Pure Air System Need Winchester 52D Info ******************************************************************** Your humble Editor here... Since I will not be able to attend the Sydney Games personally, I was hoping I could find some friendly person Down Under who would purchase a whole bunch of souvenirs (mostly shooting) like shirts, posters, etc. and ship them to me. Since my original goal 6 years ago (before I got married) was to shoot there and we subsequently named our son, Sydney Austin, after the city, it is somewhat sentimental for me/us. It would be ideal if the person were local so they could email me the kind of items they have for sale at the range and I could more accurately tell you what I want, but I'm sure we could work something out otherwise. Just keep a total of the cost and shipping and a bit for your trouble. So are there any fine Aussies out there willing to help me out? Send me an email. Thanks. I'll also take pics (prints or digital) from anyone who'd like to send them! Michael Ray ******************************************************************** It seems like that I am scheduled to shoot too often during or just after my normal meal time. That is where my comment about a light snack before shooting comes from. I think a normal meal should be avoided just prior to shooting. Sometimes I eat my evening meal early if I am to shoot in the evening. But to skip the meal and feel distractingly hungry during shooting is a mistake. Rich ******************************************************************** I agree with David Lee. You should establish a good nutrition program long before you get to a match. Another issue that David touched on, and is often far more detrimental is not changing your routine the day of the match. I have "re-leaned" this several times. The three hour change from Washington State to Ohio just does me in for about two days. Some observations of changes from the everyday routine that are detrimental to some people: If you... get by on 5 hours of sleep, get 8 hours of sleep drink 2 cups of coffee in the morning...not having any. eating a big breakfast...not eating breakfast not eating breakfast...eating a big breakfast not eating a lunch...eating a lunch, etc. You need to address your entire life style at least a week before a match. Sometimes thing are out of your control, like availability of Airline seats, or lodging. Chuck Whipple ******************************************************************** Hello; I recently saw a press release for a company that makes refillable 12 gram and 1- and 2-litre cylinders for airguns. They are refilled by a hand pump. The company is called UltimateForce and the product is Proton-X Pure Air System. A net search has produced no results. Do you have any contact information on this company? Thank you for your time. Dan Leger ****************************************************************** I've been a subscriber to the UIT mailing list for several months now. I'm hoping you or someone else on the list can help me out with some information on Winchester Model 52D smallbore rifles. I won one in a raffle at Camp Perry this summer. That being said, I'm an NRA 3-gun pistol shooter and know next-to-nothing about smallbore rifles. I'd be grateful if you could point me in the right direction on how to treat this rifle. I filled out the paperwork for the CMP a few days ago, and expect to receive the rifle in the next few weeks. In the meantime I'd like to know how often this rifle needs to be cleaned, whether there are any particular areas that need to be payed attention to with regard to lubrication, how far should it be stripped for cleaning, et cetera. Also, I know that these guns were manufactured in magazine-fed and single-shot variants. Do you know which way the 52D feeds? Sincerely, Tom Willats willats@erols.com [Editor - well, I've never even held one so hopefully someone else can fill you in.] ******************************************************************** End of UIT Mailing List #27 Michael Ray - Systems Engineer Rose-Hulman Inst. of Tech.
