Recoil disturbance is less for me. It appears to have the same trigger group and has been very consistent. I am very happy with it and shoot A grade. There are five other SP 20s in our club and there have been problems with some, mainly due to not being to leave well alone, those people could not stop fiddling with the triggers and recoil buffer settings plus other idiocies. I have used a variety of ammo and find that RWS pistol match has a beautifull "soft" recoil, but an occasional failure to feed, so purchased a pair of recoil springs and shortened them slightly. OK ! There was one pistol that broke a couple of trigger springs, hairpin type, this person made their own as spares and has'nt broken one since . The pistol will still operate upside down, a challenge?? Marcia If anyone wants more information. X.tenFido@bigpond.com ******************************************************************** Dear Mr. Ray and list: I have a problem besides operator headspacing. I own a very old worn Match 54. I got it 3rd hand. It went through a fire and survived! however the barrel is now basicly toast. It is pitted to beat the band and the chamber is sloppy. Stubing it would get a little more life out of it but really is not worth it. I have talked to a few knowledgeable locals and not so locals. I am looking for input on the following issues: 1: stainless or carbon steel 2: 1 thousanth under or standard bore diameter 3: whose brand, am considering Lilja,Shillen,Hart 4: what to set headspacing at, 42 thousanths or less is what I am considering, maybe 41 Any input that your readers could give me would be appreciated. I will rebarrel this summer after the smallbore season is over. I cannot have the gun down at this time. Too many matches till this spring. You may contact me off list at shuman_m@mail.uplink,net if anyone wishes to. Again i want to thank you for this fine forum that I enjoy thoroughly. Mark Shuman Shamokin PA [Editor - NOTE: This is purely my opinion and I'm not a gunsmith. I would go stainless. If you shoot world class scores, then it may be worth to spring for a very low-tolerance barrel. I'd stick with the standard bore size. Matching ammo to whatever barrel you get is more important than either of those though. I would stay with an Anschutz barrel. I don't know about stainless, but a new barrel for 1413 is $300 installed. As for headspacing, ours were deemed in spec at .046. I would think that you may have a hard time closing the bolt with .042, unless your ammo of choice has an unusually thin rim.] ******************************************************************** Has anyone had any problems with the Anschutz 2002CA in terms of pressure? I have had this happen to me three times now (the last time during a match) and I am thinking about having the gun looked at. The problem is this: When firing a shot, the gun doesn't seem to provide the normal pressure behind the pellet and it impacts about 2" low at 10 meters. The last time it happened I screwed out the air tank until the pressure released, then screwed it back in again. I tried another shot and the same thing happened. I repeated this sequence once more with the same problem. Then finally I screwed the tank all the way out and removed it from the gun and I heard some air escape from the little male fitting on the gun. After that I screwed the tank back in again and had no problems for the rest of the match. This problem happened on about 6th shot of the match and seems to only happen immediately after I fill the cylinder from my scuba tank. I have probably filled the cylinder 6-7 times from the same scuba tank. In the UIT Mailing list Vol 4 - # 14 sombody was looking for schooting Jakets. I personaly would contact Truttman in Switserland becouse he delivers exelent work en in prize interasting. A second tip would be try de Internet site from KEUCHEN from germany this man can help you with interesting information . The site you find at WWW.KEUCHEN.DE Hope to be helpfull Greetings Cuypers D. [Editor - the inquiry was for inexpensive jackets for junior shooters. To my knowledge, we only have one importer of Truttman in the US and they don't offer a "beginner" jacket. They may have one available in Europe.] ******************************************************************** I also would like you to know that I've been reading the UIT Mail- Archives and I must say its quite an eye opener. I recommend for those joining the mailing lists that they should try to read the archives first because many of the questions they may be searching for are answered in these logs. Although I have a number of questions I will wait until I'm finish reading. Michael, great stuff. Your time and contribution to the shooting world should be recognized. I salute you, Sir! Thanks. John [Editor - Thanks, John. The Archive is a great source of info. I notice that it is currently up to date as well. I would like to thank Jeffrey Jongko for his time and effort for maintaining it for me.] ******************************************************************** Thanks for the latest issue. I'd just like to clear up some factual inaccuracies in the note about the World Shooting Federation. Firstly, Dunblane is in Scotland which is adjacent to England, a separate country, not part of England which I'm afraid is a misconception many people around the world share. Secondly, it is incorrect to state that "all pistols have been taken away from British Citizens" What has happened is that ownership of a cartridge pistol, by any nationality, on mainland UK (ie England, Scotland and Wales) is prohibited. British citizens living in those countries may continue to own pistols within the prohibited categories, but not on a mainland UK firearms certificate and they must not be stored on mainland UK. Those Brits living in Northern Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey may continue to hold their pistols. Many Brits have taken their pistols abroad and now use them abroad on mainland Europe. It is still possible to own a blackpowder pistol or an air pistol on mainland UK It's probably not of much importance to the overall article but many people here have the wrong end of the stick about what the position is (some people think all guns have been banned) and I just wanted you to be aware of the correct position (if you are not already). Thanks Shirley [Editor - so national team members of Scotland, Wales and England must travel abroad to practice .22 pistol events?] ******************************************************************** End of UIT Mailing List #15 Michael Ray - Systems Engineer Rose-Hulman Inst. of Tech.
