I purchased a suit of gear from Lou at Custom Leather Wear and I am very impressed with his work. The gear fits me well. However, I heard a report recently from one of the women on the Canadian National Team that the pants from Custom leather Wear are not well designed for women. Apparently the design doesn't fit well around the waist and hips, so you might want to consider this when you purchase. With respect to the Custom Leather Wear coats, I didn't hear anything negative about the design at all. It seems that the Canadians are starting to buy more Thune gear and reports are all positive, from both men and women. Maybe a possibility would be Thune pants and some other company for the coat if Thune is too costly. The Custom Leather Wear coat is definitely a fine piece of work and the price is good. ******************************************************************** Pleased to hear that there are more women out there shooting. Another European make of kit you should consider is Mouche. It is designed and made by a woman and I have always found that the cut suits me particularly well since I have hips!! The trousers are double canvas and provide very good support and jackets come either in double canvas or leather/canvas mix. There are various styles available and your best bet would be to get in touch with them for a catalogue. They have other kit like underclothing which is also very good. There is another make which is also well regarded over here which is Truttman. The kit is made in Switzerland and again I could put you in touch if you want. Personally I would recommend Mouche. :Price wise, it is considerably cheaper than Thune and Anschutz and just as good quality, probably better than Anschutz. ****************************************************************** I haven't checked in a little while, but, you might want to check with Neal Johnson for a copy of the ISU rule book. They average around $6 to $10 as you buy the rules and then the binder to put them in. Shooting Clothing of America used to make a custom coat and pants for a what we thought was a very reasonable sum. This company was also known as marksman house. I'm unsure as to his current address, but the last phone number I have for him is 1-909-985-0366. Although you've mentioned Sauer already, did you know that George and Debbie Brensovich are Sauer dealer's as well? They are also the new coaches at UT-El Paso. You may want to check on prices with them as well. As to thickness of pants. I'm open to comment as well, as I have two shooters who are currently averaging 1110+s - 1130 and are using the single thickness canvas Gehmann pants. If you find out that they are at a disadvantage please advise and I will try to get them something a little more substantial as well. ****************************************************************** Just got off the phone with T2 in North Carolina, He anticipates selling shooting pants (custom and off the rack) for approximately $130-$150 and likewise shooting jackets for approximately $150. He hinted that the people who were making them, were the same people who made gehmann. You might want to talk with them. 1-828-294-2025 /5516 Brookwood Lane, Hickory, NC 28602. ****************************************************************** A question about Barrel Tuners. Les Imgrund of the Australian team was using a barrel tuner at the Commonwealth Games in Malaysia last September. (It's like an extension tube with a threaded movable weight on the shaft). I've searched for the manufacturer unsuccessfully, and was wondering if anyone could help. I believe the product is "Supertune" by Precision Timing Inc, or Timing Precision Inc. [Editor - T2 Stocks in the US sells these. They claim they are made exclusively for them by Time Precision. $225. A link to T2 is on my page.] A question about Shilen stainless barrels : My partner and I each have a Shilen stainless barrel; we have noticed that they foul extremely quickly compared to our Anschutz barrels (mine is quite old, so must be fairly smooth by now :-) ) and in my partner's case it has quite an effect on the accuracy of her barrel. Anyone else noticed this ? ****************************************************************** Hi, everyone: Just wanted to let you all know that the summer air gun postal league will be coming up soon. It is a series of 20-shots for score, no targets to be sent, due every 2 weeks for 8 rounds beginning June 5th and ending Sept. 11th. Catagories are Open, Women, Senior (over 50) and 3 junior divisions. Cost is only $10 per person per discipline, and I would like to have some of you on board this year. If you want a flyer with more details, I will need a mailing address or fax number to get a copy to you. Thanks, Don Williams, Oregon bawilli@ibm.net ****************************************************************** Medical research has proven the simple fact that eye glasses and iris devices are nothing more than mechanical devices to improve or correct problems found in any set of eye's of any shooting athlete. A doctor is consulted and the corrective device or no device is recommended to the athlete as needed. The medical profession through research has also proven that the eye is incapable of performing in the manner desired by shooting athletes. However, when the physical shooter commences using the mental entity we find that scores jump 50 to 60 points over the athletes prior results. Why do the Champion athletes wear eye glasses...? Because of the danger of blow back from a ruptured casing or some other device failure that may cause the athlete injury of the eyes. As for the iris, This device is of help to shooting athletes that using the physical shooting technique. For some athletes the glasses are for correction of physical disability of the eye. There is nothing wrong in this. The main point is the simple fact that the mind works in a specific manner and you cannot change it just because you want or need to wear glasses or use an iris on the sights. The problem is will you use the cognitive entity as it works or are you going to continue fighting with it and continue receiving poor results. This point has been proven many times through live demonstrations on and off the ranges. Think about it... After determining the natural point of aim, a shooting athlete really does not need the sight fitted on the shooting piece. Look a the pistol shooter and the athlete using shotgun. Don't see either of them using an iris. Must not be needed....? They do just fine with out it.
