Since I have gotten behind again, this isn't all the messages I have queued up. I will send out the remaining messages tomorrow I hope. My school's team did quite well though so it was worth it to me. 8^) In this issue: Re: shooting camp info Re: CMP Wolf Creek camp info Re: CMP Wolf Creek camp info Looking for "Stuff for Sale" additions Need non-US address for Marksman House and Gemini Need requirements for machine rest ******************************************************************** Another great camp is the National Shooting Camp held at Camp Perry every summer for Beginner to Intermediate shooters. Gloria Brooks is the contact (703) 267-1427. Many of these camps fill up very fast. Camp Perry has 75 firing points available for the camp and last year two shooters were waiting to attend if someone had not showed up. Some students were signing up at the end of the year for next years camp. David Lee Head Coach, Women & Men's rifle teams University of San Francisco ****************************************************************** I attended the first CMP Position Air Rifle Camp at Wolf Creek last summer. It cost approximately $150, and that covered housing, food, and transportation for a week. The camp went from Monday through the PTO on Saturday. Lodging was provided by Atlanta Christian College in two of the dorms. We left the college at about 8:00 AM, after breakfast and went to Wolf Creek. Every day we had classes on some aspect of rifle shooting delivered by Gary Anderson or some of the AMU staff. Classes included positions, care of equipment, mental training, etc. Most of the day was open practice supervised by Gary Anderson, AMU members, or collegiate shooters. We were given lunch at Wolf Creek, after which there was an opportunity for more practice. Almost every night we fired a 10-shot final, and the top 3 shooters were recognized. For beginning shooters, it seemed to help scores a great deal. For advanced shooters, the main benefit was the amount of practice. I will post part of John's list when it comes out. Foreign shooters can post items for sale directly to me as always.] Am gathering input for the Feb '99 edition of "Stuff for Sale." If you have anything you want listed (within the usual parameters), or anything now listed that needs to be deleted, please let me know ASAP. For new items, I need the normal info: make, model, size, color, condition, rightie/leftie, accessories, price, name and phone #. Stuff for Sale continues to grow. Am now making cyber-distribution to places at considerable distance from The Pacific Northwest: Florida, Kentucky, Manitoba, Virginia, Indiana, Pennsylvania, Maryland and Abalama. Am still holding hard-copy to 2 sides of a legal-sized piece of paper, but there is no current limit on the size of the cyber-edition. Questions? E-mail me at jcrossman@thurston.com Shoot 10s! John C. ****************************************************************** Does anyone have an address for Marksmanhouse in Korea? Or for Gemini? Any information on contact information outside of the US would be appreciated. David Lee ****************************************************************** After to have read last interesting articles on the advantages to use the torque wrench to make a fine adjustment of the rifle, I was decided to make a machine rest to be able to make the adjustments. I was seeing different models from machine rest, to make one similar, (to buy it is almost impossible due to the price in origin and to the high cost of shipment), analyzes the models that sell Gehmann, Stopper and Stelljes, and the simple one to make is the one sold by Stopper. The question is the following one, is it really necessary that the .22 rifle mounted in the apparatus has a displacement cushioned backwards or can be fixed, without this way affecting the completion of the rifle and as well facilitating the construction. Any data will be very well received. Best regards Osvaldo Paez Rosario Argentina osvpaez@cablenet.com.ar [Editor - I don't see what a cushion behind the rifle would accomplish since the rifle is clamped into position on the stock so it won't move anyway. Having a cushion would potentially vary the recoil also which would defeat the purpose of using the rest in the first place. Perhaps I'm way off here (wouldn't be the first time) - maybe one of the gunsmiths could help out or someone who has used a rest.] ****************************************************************** End of UIT Mailing List #17 Michael Ray - Systems Engineer Rose-Hulman Inst. of Tech.
