In this issue: Re: Anschutz dominance Re: Laser eye surgery Re: Anschutz dominance Single- vs double-stage trigger CMP Wolf Creek camp info ******************************************************************** Reply to Jason Jarvis, Vol-#14 Remingtons, Winchesters and BSA's were king during the prone era but started giving way to Anschutz when they came out with a more accommodating design for 3P shooting. They never looked back since. I still think the BSA is still one of the finest prone guns ever made. Your exclusive exposure to Anschutz may well be a local or geographic thing because throughout my travels around the country I see many Walthers, Feinwerkbaus. Some of the finest shooters in the US use something other than Anschutz. What you should be concerned with is not what the others are shooting but what fits and feels best for you. All of them shoot well or can be made to shoot well. My suggestion is to try them all and purchase the one that "talks to you". What issue of Precision Shooting Magazine had the article about LASIK. 2. What are the effects of the operation on people in the group age above 40, where people start having problem focusing the sight and the target. Does the operation affect that condition one way or another? Before you start looking consider that Anschutz is coming out with a metal stock ala Walther. It is supposed to have blue wood and Anschutz buttplate and cheekpiece and be out by about mid Janurary. I have yet to see it though. On the Feinwerkbau, the three people who I can think of who shoot with one right now two swear by it (their scores also prove it 382 offhand by a junior is something to be proud of!) .One is a 2602 with the stubby barrel and square bloop tube. The other is an older with the weights on the side of the stock. They are real simple and appeareantly shoot well. I personaly don't like them as much in comparison to an Anschutz (mainly the grip design and the crummy wood and they are also lighter. THe metal stocked one is 6kg mine is 6.8kg). And the last of the lot is a sporter with the funky stock, I don't know much about it though. Bob Foth has a Walther and he loves it. I figure he knows what he's doing. I haven't seen a Unique upclose but try Don Nygord for some info. BSA's rule BTW. Coolness factor right there in that lever. Have fun! Maxim [Editor - I'll be interested to see the new metal Anschutz. I have been considering buying a smallbore and it would come down to the Walther or 1913 right now. I too like the weight of the 1913, but I figure I could always add weights to the Walther. Like was said in the Walther discussion in Vol 2, it provides more options to the shooter. So now I'll have to consider the new Ancshutz as well. I'd really like to play with one first but it's not easy to find left-handed ones that people will let you shoot.] ****************************************************************** I have a question. Am I the only one who uses a single stage trigger? If so why or why not? Currently it seems like I am the only one around here who uses one. Thanks and have fuN! Maxim posidon@ix.netcom.com [Editor - I don't think it matters since it works for you. I use a 2 stage but take up the whole first stage when I start my aiming phase so there's no difference from a single. Perhaps I'm falsely assuming everyone uses a 2 stage this way. I also have my triggers as light as they can go from the factory.] ****************************************************************** For any of those interested in the CMP camp @ Wolf Creek may contact: Wolf Creek Foundation Leo R.
