In this issue: Rapid fire barrel twist Opinions on upgrading older Anschutz For sale: Walther silhouette rifle Rapid fire air pistol trainer Breaking in a new Anschutz? Want info on Nenoflec canvas Lonato World Cup finals results For sale: Walther LGM-2 Left ******************************************************************** Does anyone have information on studies done on barrel twist for .22 RF? Everyone at one time was shooting with the convensional 1-16 twist. Now you see barrel makers advertising 1-17 twist. Some will make just about any twist you want. I've seen stuff written about the .22 RF bullet, but nothing about barrel twist. Any thoughts?? Alan Tokumura ****************************************************************** Here is the question, I'm thinking about upgrading my smallbore rifle. I have an older Anschutz Super Match made in 1963, it has a thumbhole stock, but it does not have an adjustable cheekpiece. I think it is a model 1413. Most of my shooting is in a winter league shooting 4 position with a scope. (It hard to get the older shooters to change the format and shoot international.) There is quite a price difference between the 1912 models all the way up to the 2013. ($775.00) I have been thinking about a 1912 because of the lighter weight may be an advantage in offhand, and the cost is quite a bit less. What are your thoughts on the different models? Curt [Editor - I've already told Curt what I would do, but he's open to other suggestions.] ****************************************************************** Anyone interested in a Walther KKMS, smallbore silhouette rifle, complete with EAW rings. E-mail: melmcintosh@bc.sympatico.ca ****************************************************************** Also, as a follow-up to the discussion of rapid-fire air pistol a couple of months ago, I recently noticed that Noptel has released a version of their training system designed specifically for this discipline. Unfortunately, the only information I found about it was in German (their English page makes no mention of it yet), so I haven't any details regarding its specifications. Good Shooting, Steve Desrocher ****************************************************************** I have just purchased a new Anshutz 1907 and would like to know whether you or any of your readers have any recommended ideas when starting out with a new Anshutz to ensure the best is obtained from the rifle from day one. Do they need the same sort of 'breaking in' as a centre fire rifle ??, i.e. cleaning after every five shots etc ?? Thanks Craig Plim craig_b_plim@email.mobil.com [Editor - I have not heard of having to do anything like that and their manual doesn't indicate a breakin period. Most people regularly clean them after each practice or match.] ****************************************************************** Apparently Custom Leather Wear in Canada is starting to offer Nenoflec canvas for use in their custom shooting coats and pants. I have been looking for information but so far I haven't turned up any info about it. Does anyone know about the Nenoflec canvas and more specifically I am interested to hear about the advantages of using it? I understand that it doesn't stretch or rot but I am wondering how breathable it is? Are there other advantages as well? Thanks...
