Want help with Mirage

Came back from the WSC tryouts this morning. Made it in junior 3-p and 
open and jr prone.
    Conditions were bad the first 2 days of air. Very humid plus the 
temperture was in the 70-80's. Shot that real bad. 3rd day was 
manageable. Smallbore was nice, little wind (doesn't really seem to 
matter on that range though), cooler (in the 70's) and not too sunny.
    Also all the army people used scopes to look at mirage. I forgot to ask
them how they do this (the thought entered my mind after I left :( Any
ideas on this? I got a prone match next weekend that I could try this out at.
