In this issue: Want reviews of free or standard pistols Re: Buttplate adjustment for 3P Re: 3P Book / Handicapped shooters Want running target training methods Need rear sight for BS4 air rifle Re: 3P Book Want info on WSC E-M@TCH 1998 is up and running! Want Rules/specs for rapid fire AIR pistol RF pistol for sale Want opinions on CURT simulator ******************************************************************** Do you know of a website or other source that has reasonably current reviews of the UIT Standard and Free pistols? I'm curious about the Unique 96 versus the FAS 607, and Pardini PGP to the newer K-50. Thanks for the feedback. /Jon Schwartz ****************************************************************** >Kids break easy, and a 1912 is heavy. I would disagree. I'm 16 and shoot a 1913 (and have been thinking about weights). ><6 Kg rifles (Anschutz lightweight barrel out of a System >Gemini Sport Rifle stock). WHat is this item (the stock)? WHere could I find some info on it? >Don't worry about "even distribution of the weight on each foot"; THis is also near impossible to achive. If you want to kill some time some day, get 2 bathroom scales. Using one find out your weight with the gun. Then place one under each foot and bingo! you're killing time already! Have fuN! [Editor - I think the gun weight issue is relative. Perhaps you have no problems now but you may expereince them later if at all. Girls are more prone to back injury and that was a major reason for the change to the sport rifle (the hook allows a more upright position).] ****************************************************************** To Martin Sinclair: I have the book that you referenced for sale. I have purchased several copies of the Horneber book as well as the Vol. I & II books by Reinkemeier. If anyone wants costs, etc, they can contact me at: Don Williams bawilli@ibm.net I also have videos for air rifle, and UIT three-position sb as well as UIT pistol. You might remind people about my library of other items as well. [Editor - Don has about any book/video/article ever written on int'l shooting] To Cherrie Pinpin: There is a very good handicapped/disabled sports organization in the US and don't forget the Paralympics. However, the UIT does not have anything regarding disabilities that I know of. If you can shoot standing, then you could at least compete in air rifle with the rest of the shooters. You might get ahold of Dave Baskin. He is the disabled chairman for the NRA in the US. He is good at his job and will help in any way he can. I do know that there is a World Championship for all the disabilities every 4 years, I think, and there is a US National Championship every so often as well. Hope this helps. Mike: Hope this helps someone. Keep on keepin' on. Don Williams. ****************************************************************** I'd be intersested to know what some of your readers use for training methods for Running Target. I've been using horizontal and vertical lines to help with tracking and target engagement, and would be interested in what others have been using, what ratio of alternative training to normal target training and any other ideas you may have. Should I be using the horizontal and vertical lines or just stick to shooting the conventional target ?? I notice that the latest Feinwerkbau P70 standard air rifle is now out with a compensator, is this soon to be available for the Running Target model, and do you think it is worth waiting for this before purchasing a P70 ?? craig_bplim@email.mobil.com ****************************************************************** I need to find a rear sight ass'y for a model BS4 Chinese match air rifle. Any airgun competitors who have changed over their sighting setup may have one laying around. I wiil pay a fair price. Many thanks for your help. Russ Best at e-mail: RBest1@compuserve.com ****************************************************************** I noticed a reference to the book on 3 positional shooting by Ralf Horneber in the most recent mailing list. If anyone is interested, it is entitled "Olympic Target Rifle Shooting" and is also available directly from the UIT in addition to the British NSRA. Here is the address: UIT Bavariaring 21 D-80336 Munchen, Germany The current price and a printable order form can be found at the UIT website (www.worldsport.com/worldsport/sports/shooting/pricelist/pricelist.html). Good shooting, Steve Desrocher ****************************************************************** I would like to know if somebody knows about links or relateded articles about the 47th World Championships in Barcelona 1998. Thanks Fabio Coelho fjc@mandic.com.br Visite meu site na internet: (See my site about Olympic Rifle in Brazil) http://www.geocities.com/colosseum/arena/7456 ****************************************************************** E-M@TCH 1998 is up and running! The first full-electronic postal competition goes into its second year. Some changes, some improvements (e.g. merged men and women categories, 40 shots for all disciplines, more simulators - SCATT and NOPTEL - allowed) and up to 15MB webspace available for the match! You can find all the information (and more) under http://members.eunet.at/liptak and http://members.eunet.at/liptak/em98main.htm So if you and your friends are ready to compete, feel free to apply to the match. Your feedback is welcome! Regards, Jaroslav Liptak [Editor - I would encourage anyone able to participate. You will shoot against some of the best in the world. Last year's match had world record holders and olympic medalists as well as beginners so anyone can do it. I'm hoping I can gain access to a SCATT so I can join in this year.] ****************************************************************** Would you have any idea of what the preliminary and basic specifications for rapid fire airpistol? The recent arrival of lower cost pistols such as the Drulov DU-10 and TAU-96 should be generating considerable interest in this category. It's my understanding that the UIT has formally proposed the rules and specifications for this new event. I'd appreciate anything that you might be able to relate about it and how similar it is to rapidfire pp. Thanks in advance,Dale ****************************************************************** This will probably be gone before there is time to post to the UIT group, but Weapons Safety, Inc. (WSI) has a virtually new, complete, boxed 1986 vintage Hammerli .22 short rapid-fire pistol for sale on consignment for a bit over $1K. If you know of anyone looking, this is a real find. /Jon Schwartz Mercer Island, WA WSI 13215 S.E. 30th Street Bellevue, WA phone: 425-649-8623 ****************************************************************** Where can I get more information on a CURT Shooting Simulator? Anybody had any experience with the device, good or bad? Regards, Alan [Editor - I know Neil Johnson sells them in the US. They are cheaper than the SCATT, but you cannot live fire with it. The "target" is placed 3 or 4 meters away so if you have no room this may be good. You can't shoot in E-M@TCH 1998 with a CURT! ] ****************************************************************** End of UIT Mailing List #17 Michael Ray - Systems Engineer Rose-Hulman Inst. of Tech.
