In this issue: Re: Anschutz sight clicks Scope questions Re: Anschutz sight clicks More Airgun Postal matches ******************************************************************** Mike, I read the question about the Anshutz sights at 100 yards. From my experience, it really depends on the model of the sights that are being used. The older ones seem to have the Rise/Right Anti-Clockwise 2 clicks per ring, model number 6834. The ones that come with the new 2013s are slightly more sensitive. The model number for these sights is 7020 and they are highly accurate. The are about 4/5 clicks per ring, still Rise/Right Anti-Clockwise. I have three sets of sights, one for 25m, 50m and 100 yards. However, to change from 50m to 100 yards, going up 20 clicks will get one on the diagram. Thereafter, the same clicks per ring. Anshutz do have a new Universal Micrometer Rear Sight 7002 and 7102 (grooved for FWB). They come in 10er clicks or 20er clicks. They can be tilted to balance the cant. Here is a table I got from Anshutz themselves for the change in point of impact position from CLICK TO CLICK. 10er clicks 20er clicks 10m 0.4mm 0.2mm 15m 0.6mm 0.3mm 50m 2.2mm 1.1mm 100m 4.4mm 2.2mm Hope this helps. Samir [Editor - that looks about right to me.] ****************************************************************** I have a few scope related questions. Is it possible to mount an Unertil witout drilling the scope blocks on the barrel? I have this weird supertition that I might lose the harmonics of the barrel and the accuracy of it with it. Also what is better a Leopold (I am thinking of buying the 8.5X24 X one at Camp Perry over the summer) a redfield 3200 or an Unertil. What is the wait for an Unertil? Also, at the recent JORC (I shot a measly 568 on the new targets) I heard that once a person in on the US NDT or the NT they have to shoot Federal ammo. Is this true? What happens if I don't (I have no idea how the stuff shoots in my gun so I want to be on the safe side)? Finaly, WOuld electric cleaner harm the bluing on a gun? I want to use this stuff to clean my bloop tube and the inside of my bolt as well as my extractor cutouts. Have fuN!! [Editor - as far as having to shoot only Federal, I doubt it. I know that is what they will give you for free, but it would be stupid to make you shoot it. Your best course is to call Dan Durben and ask or e-mail USAS.] ****************************************************************** Most Anschutz sights are 1/4 minute sights, based on a 26 inch sight radius. So given that the rings on the 100 yard NRA target are 1 inch it will take 4 clicks. If the strike of the bullet is just touching the ten ring, 4 clicks will move the strike to just touching the X ring. It will take another 2 clicks to bring the strike to the center of the X ring. So as an average 5 clicks works, because not all shots just touch. If the sight doesn't have 1/4 minute clicks you find out quickly enough, 4 1/2 minute clicks will move the strike to the other side of the 10 ring, and 4 1/8 minute clicks will seem like you haven't even touched the sights. Later Chuck ****************************************************************** Well, after a bit of a delay, the MUN Shooting Club has finally put together a schedule of competitions for this year. Sorry for the delay. The dates follow, and the details will be available on our web page, http://web.cs.mun.ca/~mrt/index.html, within the next few days. The fee structure is the same as last year, and can be found in the 1997 Match Bulletin on the web page. For any person wishing to compete in any of our matches you may pay your fees in one sum if that would make it any easier. When obtaining Canadian money orders it might be more convenient to pay your fees at the beginning of the year and let us keep track of the registration for you. You can pay fees at any time, for each match, or in one sum. Just specify which matches you want to register for when you send the fees. The following competitions have been scheduled for 1998 sponsored by the Memorial University of Newfoundland Shooting Club: 1.Deadline Sunday, March 1, 1998 2.Deadline Sunday, May 23, 1998 3.Deadline Sunday, July 19, 1998 4.Deadline Sunday, September 26, 1998 5.Deadline Sunday, November 22, 1998 For all competitors outside Canada, when paying entry fees please obtain a Canadian money order and send it via regular mail.
