Initial Squads Selection Academic Year 2000/01 ------------------------ This year the cut-off scores are as follows : Air Rifle Novice Squad : 65 Air Rifle Experienced Squad : 75 Free Rifle Novice Squad : 80 Free Rifle Experienced Squad : 90 These scores must be achieved twice in three consecutive ladder cards or three times in a standard sixty-shot competition. The squads are also limited in size. The novice squads comprise 6 shooters each and the experienced squads 12. You qualify for novice squads in your first year of shooting that discipline. You may belong to both air and free rifle squads. Should more than the maximum number of people qualify, the top 12 or 6 shooters will be chosen. Note that joining squads, while not mandatory, does confer certain bonuses. The Squads are the competitive heart of the club and as such get an extra slot of time each week for training, during which their ammunition is free. Each member (equipment permitting) will be assigned a cheekpiece for air rifle, which we then adjust to them personally. In return, they are expected to turn up to the majority of competitions and training sessions (specifically they are expected to attend at least half the training sessions in any given month and at least two out of every four competitions . The Air Rifle Colours squad is chosen from the air rifle Squads, and so represents the club competitively at the Colours.
