30/4/01 Three proposals to amend the Constitution Proposal 1: Amend the maximum number of Range Officers, replacing the word ?fifteen? with the word ?twenty? in Article 5 and Article 15a. Reason: to validate the amendment of late October 1993, only recently having been noted as invalid due to the date of approval, which was approximately one week earlier than Article 20b allows. Proposal 2: Harmonise the numbering and layout of Article paragraphs and clauses. Reason: There is an uneven mix of ordinary numbers, letters, and roman numerals throughout the document, which may have arisen due to preparation by more than one person. Paragraphs are identified by letters, while clauses are identified by numbers, letters, or roman numerals, giving areas an unnecessarily different emphasis. Along with an equally uneven layout, the overall effect is to make for awkward and possibly confusing reading. The proposal is that all paragraphs be re-labelled with ordinary numbers, and all clauses be re-labelled with letters. Specifically: Articles 10,15,18,19 and 20: change letters a, b and c . Articleto numbers 1, 2 and 3 respectively. Also change . Articleinternal references in 15c, 19b and 20b to match s . Article9,13 and 14 : change numbers (1), (2) and (3) to . Articleletters (a), (b) and (c) respectively s 16, 17, 18 . Articleand 19: change roman numerals (i), (ii), (iii), . Article(iv) and (v) to letters (a), (b), (c), (d) and (e) . Articlerespectively 5: precede each of the eight elements . Articleof the Club with a letter, using (a) to (h) in . Articlesequence 12: precede each of the three Captain?s . Articleduties with a letter, using (a) to (c) in sequence . Article 13: clearly list the four Secretary?s duties, keeping their existing order but inserting the letter (a) before ?to attend promptly to...? and resequencing the three remaining duties. Suitably amend references in all Club Rules and Regulations. Proposal 3: Delete the third occurrence of the word ?shall? from Article 9, thus reading as ?...where the need arises interpret this Constitution by...?. Reason: bad English. IMPORTANT: NOTICE OF THESE PROPOSALS must be proposed and seconded in writing and given to the secretary a full seven days before the AGM, and also put on the noticeboard seven days in advance. This means be sorted (? me, you, us, whatever) by Wednesday evening (2 days).
