13/2/00 DURC at the Rathdrum Free Rifle Open DURC fielded a team of six shooters to the Rathdrum Free Rifle Open this year. Three of these were attending their first competition, in fact Aisling Broderick was shooting with free rifle for only her third time ever, and she still managed to score a remarkable 493! Two DURC shooters, Mark Dennehy and John Keeney, won second and third prize in their class with a 557 and a 555 respectively, even if there was later some confusion during the announcements when Mark Dennehy and Mick Delaney momentarily traded identities! Alan Smyth scored a 543, but since he'd had to drive four of the DURC team from Trinity, he was understandably somewhat unfocused at the time. Conor Laver shot an impressive 531 on his first competition. Michael Madigan scored a 428, and gathered some comments from the Rathdrum club members when they discovered he was a local and hadn't frequented the club up until now. However, we anticipate a more regular presence from now on, if under DURC's colours! For some strange reason though, the team was once again most reluctant to pose for the event photo, as opposed to the rest of the shooters present who were much less camera-shy.
