The DURC/UCDRC Colours Match 3/3/01 Mark Dennehy The traditional TCD vs. UCD colours match took place on Saturday, March 3rd. Due to the Foot&Mouth situation, this year saw it held in UCDs range, followed by a retirement to DURC for some post-match debate and entertainment. The day started quite well, with DURC only being able to locate 10 of our 14 shooters, and UCD managing to somehow sleep in until 1230! However, we managed to finally get everyone together in the same range and start shooting by 1400 that day. DURC, having lost last year by a narrow margin, were definitely out to put in the best possible score, despite minor hindrances from equipment. However, some of our shooters had bad days and as a result, the novice team did not do as well as they had thought they could and UCD's novice team secured the Novice colours trophy. But, the Senior UCD team proved no match for our superior ability to stand still and DURC were victorious, bringing home the Colours Trophy for the first time in three years. Sadly, the post-colours celebrations were not as heavily attended as in previous years, due to the sudden change in venue. However, we were determined that tradition would be satisfied and so gave our best effort to make up for the lack of people with a surplus of partying! And given that the festivites continued until eight the next morning, I think we succeeded! Some photographs have been take and are being developed, though this year they proved to be somewhat less useful for blackmail purposes. We hope to do better in that regard for next year, when we successfully defend our title against UCDRC, and retake the Junior trophy for good measure!
